Duncan & Toplis was
established in 1925 and over the years has expanded and opened new offices
and/or acquired existing practices. Today the practice has offices
throughout the East Midlands and South Lincolnshire in Grantham, Boston,
Lincoln, Melton Mowbray, Newark, Skegness, Sleaford and Stamford.
In May 1994 a sister
organisation, Castlegate Financial Management Limited (CFM), was formed.
This company is a firm of independent financial advisers with expertise in
all areas of financial planning.
Duncan & Toplis has a
diverse range of clients both in terms of status, size, and the nature of
their business. The firm deals with limited companies, partnerships, sole
traders, clubs and personal tax cases. The clients range in size from
limited companies with a multi-million turnover to small self employed
businesses and include farmers, builders, manufacturing concerns,
professional firms, retail shops, wholesalers and businesses in the service
sector.

ACCOUNTANCY
The firm prepares year
end and management accounts for all types of businesses
AUDIT
Duncan & Toplis is
registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and
Wales to carry on audit work. The firm provides audit services to
companies and unincorporated concerns such as partnerships and charities.
We also undertake special investigations when requested by management.
TAXATION
The firm provides both
corporate and personal tax services, including VAT. We advise on general
tax planning, estate planning and capital taxation. We settle in-depth
enquiries from both the Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise. We also
undertake the completion of income tax and VAT returns.
FINANCIAL PLANNING
Duncan & Toplis is not
authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 but we are
able in certain circumstances to offer a limited range of investment
services to clients because we are members of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants in England & Wales. We can provide these investment services
if they are an incidental part of the professional services we have been
engaged to provide.

CFM is authorised by the
Personal Investment Authority (PIA) and undertake business in the following
categories:
Life assurance, pensions,
units in collective investment schemes, investment trusts, stocks and
shares, investment bonds, PEPs, TESSAs. SIPPs and SSASs.
RAISING CAPITAL
The firm is able to assist
clients with the raising of capital from various sources. We prepare
business plans, cash flow forecasts and projected accounts for the
information of bankers and other finance houses and are involved in the
subsequent negotiation of terms.
COMPANY FORMATION AND SECRETARIAL SERVICES
We are able to advise and
assist clients in forming companies and the firm has a specialist
department dealing with the statutory requirements of companies and the
maintenance of their statutory books.
LLOYDS OF LONDON
Duncan & Toplis offers a
specialist taxation service for members of Lloyds of London. The firm
currently acts for over 200 Names.
OTHER SERVICES
Other services include
aspects of corporate finance, payroll management, recruitment of
accounting staff, formation of remuneration packages, litigation support,
trusts and settlements and executorships.
